Thank you for your registration in The Academy for Musical Theatre’s exciting 2019/20 workshops!

We are SO EXCITED to have you join us for the best experience ever!

Here is some important information about your upcoming workshop – please check over all of the workshop dates and details to make sure that everything fits in your schedule!

 “Fame” workshop take place in the upstairs banquet hall of Code’s Mill on the Park,
17 Wilson St. E., Perth:

 (please come up the stairs beside the Perth Chocolate Works shop)

Summer workshops take place at St. Paul’s United Church (in their newly renovated performance space),
25 Gore St.W., Perth:

(please enter through the main door at the corner of Gore and D’Arcy streets)

 
 

Fame:

March 31 – May 26: Tuesdays from 4:00 to 6:00 pm

Final performance:  Tuesday, May 26 (dress rehearsal at 4:00 and show at 7:00)

High School Musical:

1-week workshop – June 29 – July 3, 2020 – Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

2 Final performances – Friday, July 3 at 1:30 and 7:00 pm – location: St. Paul’s United Church performance space

Moana:

1-week workshop – July 6 – 10, 2020 – Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

2 Final performances – Friday, July 10 at 1:30 and 7:00 pm – location: St. Paul’s United Church performance space

Aladdin– Stewart Park Festival show!

1 week workshop – July 13 – 17, 2020 – Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

2 Final Performances – Friday, July 17 at 1:30 pm at St. Paul’s United Church performance space

Saturday, July 18 at 12:00 noon on the main stage of the Stewart Park Festival

 

 
 
What to Bring to the Workshops:
 
~  Comfortable clothes (clothes that you can move and dance in!  Tight jeans, dresses and skirts are not ideal)
 
~  *Appropriate performance shoes – every participant must come with black or tan dance shoes (jazz shoes are ideal) – these are best purchased from Brio or Malabar’s in Ottawa – if you have any questions about appropriate footwear, please feel free to contact us.  No outdoor shoes, boots, or flip flops are permitted at the workshop.

~ A snack and water bottle labeled with your name.  For summer workshops please also bring a lunch. *Please note that the Academy is a NUT-FREE and SHELLFISH-FREE zone – please respect this potentially life-threatening situation by packing food that is nut and shellfish free – thank you.

~ For summer workshops please bring a hat and sunscreen for outside time in Stewart Park

Performances:

The High School Musical and Moana performances begin promptly at 1:30 and at 7:00 pm.  Cast members will be at the workshop already for the 1:30 performance, but should be prepared to return to St. Paul’s at 6:00 pm to warm up, and get costumes and makeup on for the evening show.

For the Aladdin performance at 1:30 pm on Friday, July 17, performers will already be at the workshop.  For the Saturday performance at the Stewart Park Festival, please plan to arrive at the performers’ backstage area at the main stage of the Festival by 11:15 am on Saturday, July 18.

Fame performers should arrive at Code’s Mill for dress rehearsal at 4:00 pm. Doors will open to the audience at 6:30 pm for the 7:00 pm performance.

Tickets may be purchased at www.ticketsplease.ca, or in person at Tickets Please beside the Matheson House Perth Museum, closer to the performances.  Tickets are $15.00 each (HST and Tickets Please fees included).  Tickets will be “first-come-first-served” seating on the night of the performance.  The doors will open 30 minutes prior to each performance for audience members to choose their seats.

The  Aladdin performance at the Stewart Park Festival is free!

For sake of both hygiene and time, we ask that you please do your special performer’s hair at home, in a style that would work for their character, before they arrive for the show – thank you.  

What to bring for performances checklist:

  1. Black or tan performance shoes
  2. Bathing suit or shorts/tank top to wear under your costume
  3. A water bottle labeled with your name
  4. Your hair the way you would like it for the show
  5. Your script, if you’d like to have it backstage
  6. A big smile and lots of energy!
  7. And… nothing else! Please leave all toys, games and electronics at home – thank you!
 
 

Important Notes:

~ Please note that, for their safety, no student will be permitted to leave the Theatre during the workshop day.  Also, no student will be permitted to leave the Theatre on their own at the end of the workshop day, unless they have been authorized to do so in their registration form.  Only adults listed in the registration form will be permitted to pick up the student at the end of the workshop day, unless the camp staff are informed of an alternate arrangement in writing.

~ Please note that the doors to the workshop will open promptly at 8:45 am each morning for summer workshops, and at 3:45 pm for after-school workshops.  In order for the staff to adequately prepare for the best day ever, we are unable to accept early arrivals before this time.  Thank you!

~ In the summer, we will be performing an end-of-day concert every day at 2:45 pm, which we welcome you to come and watch, if you are able!

~ At the Academy, we celebrate being here and now with each other, and forming a beautiful community of real human beings.  Electronic devices can be disruptive to this process. We ask that you please leave all electronic devices at home, unless a cell phone is required for calling home for important messages during a break in our rehearsal.  Thank you for your understanding.
